2 Laurel Gardens

The project at 2 Laurel Gardens proposes to replace an existing timber deck and introduce a garden room below. Given the steep nature of the site, the existing decking is slowly moving away from the property and is in need of repair. The replacement decking will be increased in area, with a large 40sqm garden room below, the room will be situated on concrete piles and essentially act as a basement to the decking prevent it from moving down the bank in the future.

The design also includes several banked gabion walls which intend to support the garden room by building up the levels, along with making the area more usable. The site is very sensitive given the properties proximity to its neighbours and a number of protected trees, which roots impact the installation of the pile foundations. The project is currently at a pre-planning stage, and we are working with the Structural Engineers to refine a workable scheme before we proceed with the application.
